The new Google search is hallucinating!

What happened?
This May, Google announced significant changes to its search enginges. The plan is that Google will make an AI based overview for you regarding your search query. The new way of search is called: Google Overview

It launched in the US, and now there are some problems…

Google Overview advised in a thread to put glue on your pizza to make sure that the cheese doesn’t come off. Also, it thought that a python had actually the most bones of a vertebrate animal…

Not particularly good answers and not what we are really looking for if we are searching for something

Why is it important?
Google Search is basically what people think about when describing the internet. However, with the launch of ChatGPT in 2022, everything changed and Google’s market position came under threat. Since then, Google has tried to regain momentum, but still it is still not going very well, and Google Overview hallucinating is not a very good start!

What is next?
Google is now manually removing weird answers from Google Overview. Of course, this product just launched and there is room for improvement, but it also leaves gaps open for other companies to take over the market leading position of Google. To be continued…
